Floor Paintings

One thing a lot of people don't think about is painting that old ugly linoleum floor. I painted these floors in our lodge and people can't believe it. I painted them with acrylic and nothing special, but did a coat of varnish over them. They have not worn at all after about 5 years of traffic.

"The Cabin" Room in our Lodge

This was a very dark room with dark paneling. A lot of people are afraid to paint paneling, but not me. I lightened the room with an off white background, then painted and stained the lower half and added a boarder to the chair rail area. In the corner is a funny square foot "pole" that sticks out, so I turned it into a tree with racoons in it.

Here are the cabinets in that room again.

Rocker & Commission Table

I pulled this rocker out of someone's trash. I just had to order a new leather seat for about $12. We used this a lot until we finally wore it out.

This table was a commission, not my usual style. I liked the hummingbirds though!

This is my Koi fish table. I think it is my all time favortie. On the bottom part of the table, I did transitional tadpoles to a frog. Lots of fun.

This rocker was painted for my 1 year old at the time. I never imagined she would like it as much as she did, but she sat on it all thru her child-

hood.

The kitchen cabinet was in my house in NC. My kids liked it so much, they constantly brought kids home from school just to see it. I like a lot of color in case you can't tell! Many pople are so afraid of color, but I always say you can paint over it if you don't like it or when you need to sell your house. Paint it with color and enjoy it while you live there!

Nautical Commission

This is my least favorite because it is not my usual style, but I was still happy with how they turned out. The customer had a wallpaper she wanted me to match, which I did.

Desk & Throne Chair

I like to do before and after shots when I remember to do it. This little desk was a perfect candidate for painting because it was sturdy, but pretty beat up when I got it (for about $20 bucks). We have used it for years and it still looks the same.

I got this chair at a yard sale for $5. It is solid oak, but had a particle board make shift seat. I decided to camoflauge the existing seat with leopard spots. We call it our throne chair. It has always created a good conversation piece.

Giraffe & Leopard Chairs

I bought these old beat up chairs for $7 each. I like to paint the base, then the images, then sand them a bit so they look worn. Then I stain them and varnish them for a protective coat. I like them to look worn so that people are not afraid to sit on them. Also if they get beat up, which is inevitable at my house, they don't look any worse for wear. We have used these chairs for over 10 years and they pretty much look the same as the day I painted them!

Game Table

This was my first commissioned work. A woman wanted a game table for her husband. I painted a checker board and a poker game in progress. It was a lot of fun. Just the paintings took about one 8 hour day to complete. The commissioner did the black base and protective finish. They paid me $200 - in 1996!
